Seven months into my wife’s breast cancer, I suddenly encountered blood in my urine. I didn’t think of it much at first as I had no pain at all. But after three days the blood was still whenever I had to go to the bath-room, which then convinced me to see an Urologist.

The Urologist and I speculated on kidney-stones, given my relatively young age (born in ’72) and overall good health. So he scheduled a CAT Scan for me and a few weeks later he called me in my office to tell me, that there was no indication of any kidney-stones, however, the slides revealed a 6.2 cm (2.5 inches) solid mass in my left kidney.
